Extended Services
The aim of our extended services is simple. To help create positive conditions for learning so that students and their families can make progress and achieve their potential. Our Extended Services provision includes:
There are a diverse range of enrichment opportunities before school, at lunchtime and beyond. The CTC has always been committed to community engagement. Indeed, as with all schools now, thankfully the days are gone when schools were open from 8:00am - 4:00pm with parents coming in for parents evening, while students looked in longingly at unused facilities perfect for leisure and recreation. Activities exist for your child to be positively engaged in from 7:20am - 5:00pm that will increase their confidence, raise their aspirations, develop social and life skills and ultimately discover a talent that they might never otherwise have known.
We are very conscious that in difficult economic times, we need to make sure our services are affordable if we are to ensure equity and enable all our student and parents/carers can participate. For this reason all our on site enrichments are free of charge as are the majority of the adult education and family learning sessions.
We have developed strong partnerships with a range of well established community organisations that provide opportunities for your child. We have many high quality community users to ensure that affordable, safe and stimulating opportunities for your child so that all students can find their niche. Providers in performing arts, cricket, netball, football and trampolining amongst others provide opportunities for your child up to 10:00pm in the evenings and at weekends. Equally we have partnerships that help provide exceptional recreational opportunities for our parents and carers, such as Badminton, Back 2 Netball and Zumba.
We value the impact parents can have in the home and are committed to helping you develop the skills required for you to help your child make progress and assist you with your own career development. Examples include English and Maths Fast Track courses, “Keeping Up With The Children” courses in English and Maths as well as the “Understanding Your Child Programme”. Furthermore, we recognise that many families have little time to enjoy affordable and convenient recreational opportunities together. Therefore, over the course of the year we run family learning programmes in computer animation, archery and DJ skills.
While this section of the website reflects the diverse range of our extended services provision we are always looking to explore new opportunities to meet community need and enhance progress. Please let me know of any new provision that you would like to see, be they enrichments, study support, community use of facilities, family learning or adult education.
