Why do we need vitamin B2?

Vitamin B2 is needed to release the energy stored in food. Vitamin B2 is important for growth and for healthy skin and the functioning of the eyes.

Sources of vitamin B2

Foods rich in vitamin B2 include liver, kidney, milk, cheese, plain yogurt, eggs, green vegetables and cereals.

What happens if I eat too much?

Vitamin B2 can disrupt the work of medicines which prevent cancer.

What happens if I don't eat enough?

Symptoms include itchy, sensitive and burning eyes. The skin on the corners of the mouth, ears and eyelids become cracked. Other symptoms of deficiency include some emotional changes such as depression and hypochondria, and anaemia.

How much should I have?

You should have 1.6 mg (1 600µg) per day.
