Group 4 - Fruits
     
This group includes tinned, fresh, canned, frozen and dried fruits.
Fruits are high in vitamins. Citrus fruits contain a lot of vitamin C,
which is the most common vitamin found in this group. Fruits also contain
vitamin A . Tinned fruits in syrup are not so good because they have a
high sugar level, and therefore are higher in calories. Fresh fruit is
low in calories and fat. Two to four servings of fruit should be had per
day.
What is a serving?
A piece of large fresh fruit such as an orange, 2 pieces of smaller
fresh fruit such as a satsuma, 2 tablespoons of tinned fruit, or a glass
of fruit juice, a small handful of dried fruit.
