Work has already begun on refurbishing four science laboratories and two science prep rooms. If all goes well three additional laboratories will be refurbished next summer and three totally new ones will also be created. Another major piece of work happening in the next few weeks will be the replacement of the existing administration block roof. The contents of the IC, staffroom and all offices need to be removed, the roof replaced and everything has to be put back before the September return!
The contractors are also establishing their own facilities on site, as they will be here for many months. A great deal of work is also being undertaken on internal design both for the new block and existing rooms. Fortunately ISG are refurbishment specialists and have experience of a number of educational projects.
An outline scheme for landscaping and the development of the exterior has been agreed. The emphasis is towards outside social spaces for students and enhanced facilities for PE, games and external teaching. The Academy is now working with ecologists and environmentalists to develop the sustainability of the site and enhance teaching and learning opportunities. Our own student and staff ecology group will continue to work with the artchitects and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Rest assured we will keep you informed as the project gathers pace in the coming weeks.
