CTC Kingshurst Academy, aims to convince every young person that they can achieve more than they first thought. Our aim is to produce adults capable of taking responsibility for their own lives. To do this, it is important for everyone to follow sensible rules and guidelines aimed at creating a harmonious and caring community. Students' performance at College will directly affect the rest of their lives. It is important that students accept, as normal, the standards of appearance and behaviour that are taken for grated in the world of work. It is unacceptable for students to behave in a way that makes it difficult for teachers to teachers to teach and other students to learn.
The single most important rule at the College is that all students are required to respect the feelings and property of others. We rely on each individual to take responsibility for his or her actions and to create an atmosphere of trust. This is essential if we are to create a caring, relaxed and happy community.
Students are trusted to behave like young adults. Students are therefore expected to:
CTC Kingshurst Academy offers all students a unique opportunity to learn in a caring, supportive and adult environment. Within the college community we believe in creating an atmosphere that recognises each student's individual talents embedded in a culture of nurture and challenge.
During the seven years that our students spend with us, we aspire to make their experiences as inspiring, rewarding and happy as possible. The college works in partnership with parents/carers and the wider local community to produce young adults who are equipped with the essential skills and attributes necessary to make the successful transition into adulthood.
Form Tutors are responsible for the day-to-day care of students. The tutor will help develop special cohesion, tone, attitude, tidy appearance, discipline, work ethos, punctuality, and a sense of responsibility, and is one of the chief influences for good on the student.
If a parent/carer has any concern they should refer it, in the first instance, to the member of staff concerned or the student's Form Tutor. If this does not resolve the issue, the Head of Year responsible for that year group should be contacted (see list). If parents/guardians are still not satisfied they should contact the Assistant Principal responsible for that year group (see list). If parents wish to make a formal complaint they should write to the Principal. If a parent/carer remains dissatisfied, they should contact the Chairman of Governors by letter at the college address. A copy of the full Complaints Procedure can be obtained from the General Office at college.
