The Curriculum at Kingshurst is designed to be demanding, challenging, broad and balanced. The information below gives general information on the amount of time that students spend on each "subject", but it does not reveal the emphasis on active learning, on problem-solving and on the development of interactive group work. It also does not show the increasing development of links between different subjects and the emphasis of Information and Communications Technology across all subjects. It takes fully into account the requirements of the National Curriculum.

One week at the College covers 34 periods or lessons. For students in Years 7, 8 and 9 (Key Stage 3) the timetable is divided up as follows:

At the end of Key Stage 3 students will take national tests in certain National Curriculum subjects. Currently these tests cover English, Mathematics and Science. All Lessons, except for Modern Languages and Mathematics in Year 9, are "taught" in Form Groups. These are mixed ability groupings - each being under the supervision of a Form Tutor.

For Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), the students continue to follow a broad and balanced curriculum, but some degree of choice is added. Students may continue on to take Vocational GCSE and BTEC in these and a range of additional subjects.

All students in the current Year 7 participate in the cross-curricular 'Discovery' project every Friday.

The curriculum at Key Stage 4 takes into account the requirements of the National Curriculum.
