Year 9 Options
All students in Year 10 are expected to follow a broad and balanced personalised curriculum which meets the requirements of the National Curriculum and aims to provide the students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to continue with their studies at Post 16.
The CTC Kingshurst Academy offers students in Year 10 the opportunity to study a wide variety of courses which include GCSEs, BTEC Firsts and the OCR National Diploma. These courses have been provided to ensure that you can personalise your curriculum to suit your individual needs.
Over the last month the CTC Kingshurst Academy has provided you with comprehensive guidance on your options through assembly presentations and PSHE sessions. Most students will base their option decisions purely on their enjoyment of specific subjects and this is to be encouraged as students who enjoy their courses are more motivated. However, it is important to ensure that you select a balance of subjects as explained on the English Baccalaureate page.
This section provides you with further guidance of the core subjects which you must follow as part of your curriculum in Year 10 and 11. In addition there is an outline of the course content and assessment procedures for each of the available option subjects. You should use this information to help you make your choices. The CTC Kingshurst Academy will try to ensure that you receive your first choices, but this cannot always be guaranteed.
